I came across this phrase that says LA’s temperature never drops bellow 15Ž(one of Japanese website). It didn’t hear right to me… why? because from my experience a lot of Japanese people don’t know how much LA covers the SoCal. They think SoCal = LA. Because LA is the major part of SoCal, it is not surprising for people to associate SoCal with LA, but I hope everyone would know it is more to it. Orange Country, San Diego, Mountains you see from LA, Ventura, San Bernardino, so on and so on are all part of SoCal.
Some these places get weather that is totally different from few miles away. I once called my friend from Big Bear when I was snow boarding and learned that my friend was surfing in OC.
So such miss leading impressions give them weird feelings when they visit SoCal (to them it is LA only). During winter, they can be in San Bernardino county near big bear or close to desert (evening), and come back to Japan saying LA was cold.
Well, as long as people have good time, then it don’t really matter. However, studying about the places you about to visit is a travel 101 deal. I need to keep this in my mind as well.
